Why Collect Supplies
An annual survey conducted by NBC News, pertaining to "Back to School Costs Soaring, is Burdening the Poor" revealed that a backpack and school supplies for a middle-school student this year will cost parents approximately $312, up more than $100 from last year - the large jump due mainly to a more expensive calculator. Outfitting a high school student will cost just over $350, up from $330 last year.

There are many in-need families
Many “in-need” families are having difficulty providing food to feed their children. In this type of circumstance, purchasing school supplies becomes less of a priority and that child’s education suffers. As education suffers, a child’s opportunities are limited and the spiral of “in-need” families continues to the next generation.
